Rat Milk Week 1

During our band meeting we made a long list of songs that we all wanted to play. The listed consisted of: John Wayne was a Nazi, Bus Money, Eyeless, Crazy on you, The Ocean, I bet you look good on the Dance floor, The pretender, Hey Johnny Park!, Chop Suey, Police in Helicopter, for whom the bells Toll, London Dungeon, Rockfish, Ebin, White room, Straight to Hell and Boys in the better land. This long list was made by all of us saying what songs we wanted to do and then it was condensed down to a short list that consisted of: Ebin, White Room, Hey Jonny Park!, John Wayne was a Nazi and The Ocean. These songs are the result of compromise and again the short list was shortened into the final set list which is Ebin, White Room and Hey Johnny Park!. The 3 final songs were all chosen from our mutual music taste for Rock and a bit of ska.

Rat Milk Week 2

RAT MILK WEEK 3

Rat week 2 band practice was productive as we rearranged our set and tweaked it by getting rid of Mrs Robinson because we didn't think we played it well and i think what we replaced it with fit the set much better. Fell in love with a girl only requires Tomlin to familiarise himself with the structure and then i think it should be fine. The songs we played today were getting progressively more tight and accurate as there are a couple parts in white room where we were struggling last week and at the start of the practice this week and we took time learning it and now we know it. We also had another band peer review a couple of our songs and the feedback we got from them was helpful for how we practice next week and the more opinions we get then it becomes easier for us to know what we have to change and what will work better within the set

Final Performance

PUB FEED

This song went aa bit shit for me because i went out of time during one of my fills but that was only one fill out of the whole song and it is a punk song so we are actually being more punk by being sloppy. But regardless the song was still played well by everyone and this song had more energy behind it and people started to interact with us which was nice to see and i think thats when we started to just naturally have more showmanship because our confidence was raised by people just dancing. I think how we ended the song was the best way we could've out of the endings we tried before in practices.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion over the weeks of practice and the large number of songs that we went through until we finalised the set we played. I think the 3 songs we chose and performed went very well and the only thing which i think would've improved our set massively would have been more showman ship from all of us as band and even if its just swaying from side to side or banging heads it does add and improve a performance.

WHITE ROOM

Our performance actually went very well and it was without a doubt the best song we played and weird that it was also probably the most technical song in our set. I was very happy how i played White room and i think what went well was that we transitioned between chorus and verse very well which was something we were struggling with in the practices leading up to the gig. I think we should've had a bit more showmanship as a band because i think that would have taken the performance to the next level and shown our talents even better and also it would help with confidence and tackling some stage fright that some of the band may have had due to it being there first performance

NO GOVERNMENT

This was the song which really got people dancing and that was probably helped by it having the other 2 songs before it. I myself in this song started it too quick and had to slow the tempo down but everyone followed me and no one got lost and was dragging or rushing which i think demonstrates that as a band we do play very well all together. I do think that this song was the messiest of the 3 we played and it could have been a lot more clean as i was very random with the 2 alternating fills that are in the song and i should have just played fill A and then Fill B rather than just doing whatever i felt like and i think with that the song would have been a lot better sounding.
